Real self

No man for any considerable period can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true.

— Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter

This qoute means we have two face we wear, it depends on the situation how it was revealed. We have our id, the face we wear when we are alone when no one is watching and our ego, the face we wear when we are around with other people. Sometimes, having this faces our self get bewildered which might be our true self.
